Let Us Introduce Ourselves.
EWI was established in California in 1938 when Lucille Johnson Perkins recognized the importance and potential of an association of key women working with their executives to promote their firms and improve their community. In May 1939, the Los Angeles business community recognized the value of such an organization, and that city's Chapter was chartered, and EWI was on its way. Since then, additional cities throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe have joined, forming a prestigious and exclusive networking organization of key firms and individuals.
Over 3000 companies and 3500 representatives are members of EWI today in 75 Chapters located in major cities in the United States, Canada, and Europe. EWI is the premier organization for networking and leadership development for today's business professionals and their firms.
The Grande Prairie Chapter was chartered in June of 2009 only 1 year after begining the process of establishing a group in Grande Prairie. With the help of some motivated members Grande Prairie ended the year with over 40 member firms.
In October 2009 the first Reading Rally was held in Grande Prairie with the group reading to over 800 grade 2 children accross the city and county and donating over 150 books, The Library Mouse.
In June 2009 EWI of GP handed out our first EWISP Scholarship to a deserving grade 11 student from Fariview. Look for 2010 Scholarships EWISP and ASSIST announcements coming soon.
